Hreiðar Hreiðarsson

Station manager - Vogavík broodstock farm

Hreiðar has been around fish and aquaculture for the last 25 years. He started his career in fish in 1992 as a captain and mate on various fishing vessels whilst also managing his own fish processing plant from 1998 to 2000. In 2004 Hreiðar moved over to aquaculture and received his diploma in aquaculture in 2005, he started at StonFiskur in 2005 and has been working with us ever since, first as an aquaculture professional and later station manager at our Hatchery in Kollafjörður.

In 2013 Hreiðar moved on to become the station manager of the broodstock station in Vogar. His main responsibilities are day to day operations on site, making sure our broodstock is raised in the best possible conditions.

When Hreiðar is not busy making sure our broodstock is in top condition, he spends most of his time fly fishing for salmon in one of Iceland’s many rivers, or cheering on his local basketball team. A team that he holds multiple national titles with as a former player.
