Breaking grounds for the new incubation house in Vogar, Iceland

Yesterday, Jónas Jónasson, Bára Gunnlaugsdóttir, Ómar Bjarnason, Davíð Harðarson, Guðmundur Ragnarsson broke ground for the new incubation house in Vogar that will be ready in June 2021.

The mayor of Vogavík and the elected official were present with other managers from Stofnfiskur. When finished the house will enable us to deliver first class eggs and to prepare for higher sales volume in the future – especially in high peak off season. The house will be 2300 square meters enable us to incubate eggs from 10.000 females (over 100 million egg).

Jónas Jónasson, CEO of Stofnfiskur and Head of Salmon productions, was happy when they broke grounds yesterday in the freezing cold in Vogar and said: “This is a good strategic move to take Benchmark Genetics off to a new level in production capacity of producing salmon for the world market.”

Guðmundur Ragnarsson, station manager at incubation centre added: “We are very excited about that new and bigger incubation center. This is a step in the right direction to increase our production capacity and the quality of our eggs. This will be a revolution for our employees in the incubation centre because the new facility will be better, more spacious and easier to work in.”
